Remebering Liberty

Sometimes you have to be willing to stand naked before God with no pretentions and Remember Liberty. We need to sometimes put away all the trappings of day to day life, remembering those that went before us and just be thankful. Hence the Alamo, the cannon, the shield, the gun, the graves, and the spear....
Those that gave the last measure of thier being for this country, did not have great conditions when they died.Thousands of them were in cold mud and bogs and slime and war. With death all around. They were scared out of their wits but stood up and paid the price of Liberty. I'm sure they clung to the promise of liberty and the future when they passed on, as that was all they had left. They were naked as well.
The closest we can get to that sometimes, and most especially for the woman in the picture is to go out to a battlefield, early in the morning, look up to heaven, say a prayer for those brave people, and remember.
She is beautiful and that's also a part of my point with this one. Those that went before did not forsake their fight for liberty for beauty or comfort. The fight was sometimes hard. The symbol of our Flag and what it stands for uppermost in their minds and hearts. She represents those things and also the way of life that those folks were fighting for. They died to give her and all of us the ability to live our comfortable life.
The rainbow in the background represents that future promise of liberty that they sacrficed for. The reflection of the city of Houston on the shield represents what that sacrifice enabled the rest of us to accomplish, keeping the flame of Liberty alive in our hearts and bringing a piece of the present into the picture.
We have an opportunity, each 4th of July to put everything else aside and remember and honor those who got us here with everything they had to give. :)
